We just returned from an over night stay at the charmingly rustic and historic Black Range Lodge in Kingston, New Mexico (1 1/2 hour drive from Las Cruces,NM). Pet friendly plus!

Acres of wooded grounds for a city pup to sniff and explore and even the kitchen is not off limits (a delicious breakfast is included—freshly baked muffins, organic eggs from the Lodge’s chickens and organic coffee from a coop in Mexico. Continue reading

Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces is a privately owned, former Hilton hotel (don’t be mislead by the uninspired exterior) but completely renovated in 2007— continued upgrades include the current construction of an outdoor Olympic sized swimming pool, lush landscaped garden and gazebo.

The Hotel Blue has an unimposing exterior and a very welcoming minimalist stylish interior.

Pets are welcome—although there are to date, no pet amenities, so bring your own bowls. The pet rules regarding weight and size are very flexible—there is a $15 daily pet fee and furry guests are accepted on the 5th floor only (as extra cleaning is routinely given to this floor).

Freebies galore here: WIFI, Full American breakfast, chocolate chip cookies and beverage available 24/7, free security parking, gym, swimming pool.  No restaurant on premises, but plenty of places to dine within a 2 block radius. Continue reading
