Built in 1928 to accommodate those citizens with a thirst- despite Prohibition restrictions -you can get a tour of the original secret room where the spirits (hidden in suitcases) were stored and delivery to guests was through a labryinth of secret tunnels. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, but only one block from the main stores and restaurants, we found the Hotel Del Marcos, our second night’s accommodations. At first sighting, the exterior was somewhat disappointing in comparison to the modern luxe chic of the Hotel Zoso.  We checked in at the stylishly chic but comfy-casual Hotel Zoso. Hotel Z is conveniently located just one block from the heart of the city. Recently remodeled under the tasteful and guest centric philosophy and supervision of General Manager, Lesley Carey, Hotel Z features an environmentally calm, “energized” Zen sensibility with plenty of glass walls and open dining areas in the central courtyard and poolside, which showcase the panoramic grandeur of the San Jacinto Mountains. No Heads Out the Window: Although many pets find that sticking their head out the window is the best part of the road trip, it’s not safe. Your pet can easily be injured by flying debris.

Frequent Pit Stops: Always provide frequent bathroom and exercise breaks. Most travel service areas have designated areas for walking your pet. Be sure to stay in this area particularly when you pet needs a potty break…and of course, bring along a bag to pick up after your pet. When outside your vehicle, make sure that your pet is always on a leash and wearing a collar with a permanent and temporary travel identification tag. Continue reading →
