We checked in at the stylishly chic but comfy-casual Hotel Zoso. Hotel Z is conveniently located just one block from the heart of the city. Recently remodeled under the tasteful and guest centric philosophy and supervision of General Manager, Lesley Carey, Hotel Z features an environmentally calm, “energized” Zen sensibility with plenty of glass walls and open dining areas in the central courtyard and poolside, which showcase the panoramic grandeur of the San Jacinto Mountains.
The lobby features a ‘living wall’ of lush greenery, a family-friendly pool table and a ‘chill out’ retro 60’s sunken living room that invites incoming and resident guests to lounge (feet up on furniture is just fine here) while working on lap tops or relaxing at the bar enjoying a specialty drink. The bar becomes a popular evening spot and Thursday through Saturday, the Hotel Lounge becomes a supper club with featured entertainment.
Our superior king suite included a full bath, separate powder room and a spectacular view of the mountains from our large private balcony.
Front desk staff member Rebecca, shared that occasionally, a pet left unattended in a room, can forget canine etiquette and create a disturbance. Front desk staff will ‘dog sit’ in an area behind the reception desk until the canine family member returns or if a guest has plans for a few hours in the evening, that do not include their pet.
The outdoor dining areas are pet friendly and Chef Russ prepared our early morning breakfast (“How does Phoebe like her eggs?”) as we relaxed and enjoyed the fresh desert morning air and the tranquility of the mountain view with the fine mist of a nearby fountain.
Unlike many “dog friendly” hotels, Hotel Zoso has few restrictions (all guest rooms are pet friendly) and credits their guests with the sensibilities and good manners to set appropriate pet guidelines.
